"notes": "EPISODE 1 (2026-11-07). Nothing had run. Decided: one code wave \"r1\" (13 items) that both lays out the trunk and builds round-1 starting points. Wake when r1 settles or after 240 min.\n\nWHY A CODE WAVE: a brief is at most 3000 chars once filled, so the best Strategy.sol can never travel inside a brief. The goal's trunk carries it: best/Strategy.sol is the current best; candidates/<key>/ holds each item's Strategy.sol, result.json and NOTES.md; tools/amm-challenge/ is the simulator at the pinned commit as plain files; tools/pair.py is the paired measurement CLI (A.sol B.sol --seed-start S --n N -> JSON n, mean_a, mean_b, mean_diff, se, worst, seconds_per_simulation); best/SCOREBOARD.md is the scoreboard in the trunk. Later waves: items read tools/README.md and best/Strategy.sol from the trunk, write only in candidates/<key>/**. Promotion = a code item with scope [\"best/**\"] that copies the winning candidate and appends to SCOREBOARD.md. Never give two items overlapping scopes.\n\nSIMULATOR FACTS (read from the Rust/Python source at the commit, verified): 10000 steps; each step: fair price p moves by GBM (per-step sigma fixed per sim, U(0.000882,0.001008)); then an arbitrageur trades each AMM if profitable with the closed-form optimal size, which leaves spot exactly at the band edge: after an arb where the AMM bought X (isBuy=true) p = spot_post*(1-bidFee); where it sold X (isBuy=false) p = spot_post/(1-askFee). Then Poisson(lambda U(0.6,1.0)) retail orders, lognormal size (mean U(19,21) Y, sigma 1.2), 50/50 side, each split between the two AMMs by the router so marginal prices equalise (fee on input). Fees are kept aside (not reinvested). Edge: X sold = amountX*p - amountY; X bought = amountY - amountX*p. TradeInfo: isBuy, amountX, amountY, timestamp (= step), reserveX, reserveY (post-trade, WAD). No call between two timestamps => no arb hit us at any step in between => p stayed inside our band. Gas 250000 per call; solc 0.8.24 viaIR optimizer 200 runs; storage only slots[0..31] (compiler layout check); forbidden opcodes CALL/CREATE/EXT*; imports only ./AMMStrategyBase.sol and ./IAMMStrategy.sol; fees in WAD, max 10%. Server parameters on paradigm.xyz/puzzles/amm/about match this config (10000 steps, 1000 sims, same sigma/lambda/size ranges, 30 bps normalizer).\n\nSEEDS: MatchRunner._build_configs uses seed i for sim i (numpy default_rng(i) draws mean_size, rate, sigma in that order; Rust seeds price with seed and retail with seed+1), so `amm-match run --simulations N` is always seeds 0..N-1 and two runs are paired for free; per-seed edges need amm_sim_rs.run_batch directly. POLICY: tuning on seeds 0..99999 only. Confirmation block per episode e: seeds e*100000 .. e*100000+1999 (episode 1 = 100000..101999, episode 2 = 200000..201999, ...). Promote only when paired mean_diff >= 2*se with n >= 2000 on the episode's fresh block against the current best. Round 1 reference = contracts/src/StarterStrategy.sol (50 bps fixed).\n\nSCOREBOARD (fill from r1 results): best = starter 50 bps, sha256 and score to come from r1/layout. Board on 2026-11-07: 1st 528.40, 2nd 528.32, 3rd 528.26, 4th 528.21, 5th 528.10. Unverified claim (jiayaoqijia repo README): a fixed 30 bps entry scores about 522.13 on the board, so dynamic fees are worth only ~6 points (~1.2%) there, while the pinned README says the normalizer scores 250-350 locally; r1/static-grid reports the local vanilla score so the gap can be judged. If local absolute scores differ from the board, trust paired differences only and prefer mechanisms that do not depend on exact parameter values.\n\nR1 ITEMS (one idea each): layout (trunk + harness + starter as best), static-grid (fixed fee grid, symmetric and asymmetric, local vanilla score), example-tuned (README widen-and-decay tuned), fair-centered (continuous fair-price inference from arbs; quotes centred on p with half-spreads, widening with staleness), band-state (discrete state after arb-buy/arb-sell/retail with tuned fee pairs and decay), interval-tracker (bounds on p from arb absence), router-optimal (fee from the router's share formula), vol-estimate (online sigma), flow-estimate (online lambda and size), inventory (reserve-imbalance skew), size-toxicity (nonlinear size/consecutive-direction response), bandit (within-sim fee-level selection by estimated edge), public-replica (reimplement the strongest public repo). Expected: fair-centered, band-state and interval-tracker are the same family (quote around inferred fair price, asymmetric after arbs); the strongest of them is the likely round-2 base.\n\nPUBLIC WRITE-UPS FOUND (data, cite in the write-up): github.com/jiayaoqijia/amm-challenge-yq (layered: base fee from sigma/lambda/size, toxicity widening incl. cubic, directional skew, trade-aligned boost, pHat with shock gate; claims 523.21 on the board); github.com/dipankar/amm-challenge (fork; contracts/README.md lists static baselines 25-80 bps and an adaptive lineage with EWMA, direction, consecutive, imbalance signals; no scores given); github.com/eliizabethzhang/market-making-challenge (fork README only). No Paradigm write-up exists.\n\nNEXT EPISODE (2): read r1/* (all 13). Build the scoreboard: for each item its paired mean_diff and se vs the starter on 100000..101999, its score on 0..999, sha256, seconds_per_simulation. Pick the best by paired diff that clears 2*se; if none clears, keep the starter and treat round 1 as a round without promotion (stop rule: two rounds in a row without promotion, or the last episode). Then spawn wave r2 (about 15-20 items, 40% deepen the best using its result's `next` lines and combining the fair-price family with the best secondary signal, 30% fresh mechanisms not in r1, 15% simplify the best, 15% measure/replicate: rerun the top two on 200000..201999 and on 0..1999 with a different worker) plus one item with scope [\"best/**\"] that promotes the winner (copies candidates/<key>/Strategy.sol to best/, appends SCOREBOARD.md) and one scope [] check item that runs tools/pair.py on best vs starter to verify the harness. Items in r2 must be told: trunk has tools/README.md (install), tools/pair.py (measurement), best/Strategy.sol (reference to pair against), and the new fresh block 200000..201999. If r1 failed widely (install problems), read its failures and mend the brief (likely: Rust/maturin build time, solc download, numpy missing) before re-running with itemsFrom. Budget: 600 items, 13 used in r1; 10 episodes, so about 8 waves remain plus the write-up. Write-up needs: best Strategy.sol, sha256, paired gain over the starter and over the previous best with se, ranked table of every promotion, citations.",
