# Lighter: newest node / prover software release

Pages read 2026-10-27, about 14:20–14:40 UTC. The GitHub data came from the GitHub REST API (`/orgs/elliottech/repos`, `/repos/elliottech/<repo>/releases`, `/tags`, `/commits`) and the github.com release pages listed below.

## Software

- **Main node / sequencer software: closed source. No public repository found.** The `elliottech` GitHub org (https://github.com/elliottech) has 19 public repositories (listed via https://api.github.com/orgs/elliottech/repos). None of them is a sequencer, node or witness-generator implementation. Lighter's docs describe the components as a Sequencer, API servers, Witness Generator services and the Lighter Prover (https://docs.lighter.xyz/about-lighter/technical-architecture-lighter-core). For Lighter EVM they also describe a "witness node" and a "witness coordinator" (https://docs.lighter.xyz/evm/technical-architecture). Neither page links to source code for these.
- Lighter is not built on an upstream rollup stack (OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, ZK Stack, etc.). L2BEAT calls it "an application-specific zk rollup" and a "Stage 0 Appchain ZK Rollup" (https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/lighter). Lighter maintains its own software (GitHub org `elliottech`).
- **Public repos related to the rollup:**
  - https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-prover: "Lighter Prover and Circuits" (README). Top-level folders include `circuit`, `desertexit`, `plonky2`, `p3`, `snark`. L2BEAT links this repo and says it "contains the circuits and prover code for both normal and desert operation mode of Lighter" (https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/lighter).
  - https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-contracts: the L1 contracts (README: "Lighter Contracts", Business Source License 1.1).
  - https://github.com/elliottech/gnark-plonky2-verifier: a fork of `succinctlabs/gnark-plonky2-verifier` (GitHub API `parent`).
  - https://github.com/elliottech/plonky2: "Fork of the https://github.com/0xPolygonZero/plonky2" (repo description).
  - https://github.com/elliottech/zeknox
- **Client SDKs (not node software):** `lighter-go` ("Public Go SDK for Lighter"), `lighter-python`, `lighter-ts`.

## Newest node release

**NOT FOUND. The node/sequencer is closed source, so there is no public release.** See "Software" for the org listing that was checked. No repo in https://github.com/elliottech is node software.

For context only (this is **not** node software): the newest release of the official Go SDK is:
- Repository: https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-go
- Tag: `v1.0.12`. Title: "v1.0.12". Published: 2026-10-19T16:48:50Z (https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-go/releases/tag/v1.0.12). Not a pre-release.
- Change: "Updated the MarketIndex field name in binary options transactions."

## Newest prover release

**The main prover repository has no releases and no tags.**
- Repository: https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-prover
  - https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-prover/releases shows "There aren't any releases here".
  - https://api.github.com/repos/elliottech/lighter-prover/tags returns an empty list.
- Latest commit on the default branch: `16c0f36d75`, "Sync circuits", 2026-10-12T20:30:56Z (https://api.github.com/repos/elliottech/lighter-prover/commits). The two commits before it are `579f3d15ce` "Optimizations, more margined assets, fixes" (2026-10-07T22:40:49Z) and `28ae613d9c` "Binary options support" (2026-09-20T12:58:25Z). These are commits, not releases.
- **Newest release among the proof-system component repos** (the Plonky2-to-gnark verifier wrapper, a fork of Succinct's):
  - Repository: https://github.com/elliottech/gnark-plonky2-verifier
  - Tag: `v0.1.0`. Release title: "bump_ignition_verifier".
  - Published: 2026-10-08T09:18:05Z (`datetime` on https://github.com/elliottech/gnark-plonky2-verifier/releases/tag/v0.1.0).
  - Marked "Latest". Not a pre-release. https://github.com/elliottech/gnark-plonky2-verifier/releases/latest redirects to v0.1.0.
  - Change: the release notes are empty. The title suggests a bump of the ignition verifier dependency, but that is a reading of the title, not of the notes.
  - Previous release with notes: `v0.0.8`, 2026-09-14T16:40:21Z, "Verifier range-checks public inputs instead of relying on the caller providing them safely." (https://github.com/elliottech/gnark-plonky2-verifier/releases/tag/v0.0.8)
- `poseidon_crypto` (hash library used by the circuits): `v0.0.19`, published 2026-10-05T03:03:48Z, empty notes, not a pre-release (https://github.com/elliottech/poseidon_crypto/releases/tag/v0.0.19).
- **No releases (checked via the API):** `lighter-contracts` (also checked https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-contracts/releases: "There aren't any releases here"), `plonky2` (also checked https://github.com/elliottech/plonky2/releases: none), `gnark-ignition-verifier`, `zeknox`.
- `lighter-contracts`: latest commit `5896c8f142`, "Pause mechanisms, update verifiers", 2026-10-12T20:11:26Z (https://api.github.com/repos/elliottech/lighter-contracts/commits).
- L2BEAT's changelog entry for 2026 September 28, 13:09 UTC says "New verifier deployed, successfully reproduced from sources." (https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/lighter). This is the build-from-source path L2BEAT uses for the prover, since there are no tagged releases.

## Operator docs version

**NOT FOUND.** Lighter's docs have no "run a node" or "node operators" page.
- I listed every page in the docs sitemaps:
  - https://docs.lighter.xyz/developers/sitemap-pages.xml
  - https://docs.lighter.xyz/api/sitemap-pages.xml
  - https://docs.lighter.xyz/evm/sitemap-pages.xml
  - https://docs.lighter.xyz/programs/sitemap-pages.xml
- None of these pages has "node" or "run-a" in its path. The only operator-adjacent page, https://docs.lighter.xyz/evm/json-rpc-api, documents the standard Ethereum JSON-RPC methods for using Lighter EVM. It names no node software and no version.
- The docs describe the Sequencer, Witness Generator and Prover as services run by Lighter (https://docs.lighter.xyz/about-lighter/technical-architecture-lighter-core). They give no operator instructions.
